An incredible amount of technology is developed within Indiana companies and universities. However, most of that technology still resides within the four walls in which it was conceived.  These institutions are either too busy or do not have the know-how to commercialize internal technology; thus, the technology falls by the wayside and never becomes commercialized.  Without this technology, the marketplace is left without viable solutions. 

Commercializing technology that dwells within an organization can expand the horizon for not only that organization but for other industries and companies.  Both Indiana companies and universities are looking for ways to stimulate the economy within Indiana, and internal technology transfer can produce several positive results:

• Establish an additional revenue stream by commercializing the technology in-house.
• Create high paying, high growth jobs by selling and/or spinning out the technology and allowing another organization to present it to the market. 

The Indiana Venture Center is here to assist companies and universities with their internal technology transfer programs.  We understand that this process can be long and exhausting – we work to ease your stress and make this process as smooth as possible. 

The Indiana Venture Center is your consultant through the entire process:

1. Validate Technology.

The Indiana Venture Center assists you in coordinating activities between your organization and the third-party technology validating group.  We work with both parties to see that all information has been shared, reviewed, and understood. 

2. Determine Optimal Direction for Technology.

After validating your technology, the Indiana Venture Center can assist you in making an informed decision on the best way to commercialize the technology – continue to develop the technology in-house or transfer the technology to an outside party. 

Is your company ready to bring this technology to market?  If the technology helps to move your organization in the direction you are wanting to head, we recommend that you embrace the technology and take the necessary steps to commercialize the technology.

If commercializing this technology is not the direction your organization would like to proceed, the Indiana Venture Center will assist you in determining your next move.  If you decide selling the technology could turn a generous profit, we will assist you in evaluating potential buyers.  If selling the technology is not an option, we will aid you matching the technology to ambitious Indiana natives that would like to move back to Indiana and bring this technology to the marketplace.
