Julie Goonewardene leads the commercialization effort for Discovery Park at Purdue University. Key areas within Discovery Park include innovations in nanotechnology, life sciences, and energy. Her major focus is company formation and the identification, development, and protection of intellectual property.
Prior to joining Purdue she was president and CEO of Cantilever Technologies. Goonewardene co-founded Cantilever with venture capital funding and later executed Cantilever's sale to i360. At the time of Cantilever's sale, customers included Cummins, Brunswick, and Lockheed Martin. Cantilever's software—the Readiness Engine—allowed complex organizations to analyze, understand, and resolve exceptions related to standard customer and supplier transactions. Prior to Cantilever, she was president of SSG, a boutique-consulting firm. Earlier she was a senior principal and one of the first 30 employees of Technology Solutions Company.
Goonewardene is co-author of The Right Decision for the Right Reason and a guest lecturer at Purdue University's Krannert School. She is a member of The Economic Club of Chicago, The Chicago Financial Exchange, the Advisory Board—Purdue Convocations, and the American Association of University Women.
